The Cook and the King, by Julia Donaldson and David Roberts

A new book from Julia Donaldson AND David Roberts? Yes, please!

We love Julia Donaldson and David Roberts separately so much that when they work together it makes the book a must for us. With fantastic works such as Tyrannosaurus Drip and Jack and the FlumFlum Tree, our expectations were very high for The Cook and the King.

The story is about a hungry king on a search to find a new cook. After many have tried and failed to impress him, he spots someone who, though dressed like a cook, maybe isn’t the best fit for the job. The king orders his favourite meal, fish and chips, but is Wobbly Bob up to the challenge of producing such romantic and exotic culinary showstopper?

We loved it. As you would expect you will find top-notch storytelling and rhyming from Donaldson and fabulous outfits and scenes from Roberts. Brilliant!
